Unique Perspective is a remarkable company based in Kilkenny, Ireland, that produces innovative electronic products for people with special needs.
With the help of a Bluetooth module from Merlin Systems, Unique Perspectives have developed the ‘ClickToPhone’ which enables people with severe disabilities to access a Windows Mobile phone.
‘ClickToPhone’ facilitates wireless control of all mobile phone functions by enabling a person who cannot press the keys of a mobile phone to operate the phone with a single switch, a five-switch device or the joystick on their powered wheelchair.
This system operates thanks to the ESD200, an embedded Bluetooth module from Merlin Systems. This wireless Bluetooth interface accepts either a single switch input or a 5 switch device.
The ‘ClickToPhone’ software runs on any SmartPhone and once connected to the ‘ClickToPhone’ hardware, the switch or joystick can be used to navigate the phone.
Such technological innovation has allowed Unique Perspective to export the ‘ClickToPhone’ and other devices internationally; all from a converted farm in the middle of the Irish countryside!
